Students were treated to a special behind the scenes meet and greet with the director, Peter Kazaras on what he does as a director of operas. He also shared with us his life's journey from New York City as a kid, to an attorney turned operatic singer and to a director. He now works at UCLA.
The students also had a chance to speak with one of the stage crew operators. She shared with us that for one production there could up to, if not more than 100 workers behind the scenes on top of the orchestra, cast, and singers! She also shared with us that the LA Opera has cargo containers that house the many props that the opera has! These containers are often shipped on loan to other companies and vice-versa.
The entire dress rehearsal ran as if it was a performance!
