After taking a year off from attending the Eastside Arts Festival, YOKA made an appearance at the 4th Annual Eastside Arts Festival at the campus of Eagle Rock High School on Saturday, March 7th, 2015.
The YOKA Music Program was represented by members of both the 2nd year guitar class and members of the YOKA Band.
The guitar students opened up the hour long program, which also served as our tribute to 30 Years of Music in Our Schools Month. Selections included, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, Oh Shenandoah, Red Valley, and Dragon Blues in A. Trio of girls performed a song by Bruno Mars while a boys duet performed Miserlou.
The YOKA Band finished our long program with Star Wars, Rockin' La Bamba, Best of Beethoven, Arirang, and Let it Go!. Stay tune for videos of our performances in our Media section as they will be uploaded shorty.
Our appearance was made possible by a generous donation of LAUSD Board Member Monica Garcia as her office provided a bus to take us to and from the festival.
