The YOKA Music Department presented their First Annual Spring Concert today, Thursday, May 28th, 2014. This was the first concert that featured both the guitar students and the YOKA Band on one stage.
The guitar students opened up the show with classic melodies like Ode to Joy, Au Claire de la Lune, Yankee Doodle, Amazing Grace, and finished off with an original composition entitled Dragon Blues Blues, where three students showed off their improvisation skills.
Two students performed "Let it Go" from Disney's Frozen.
The YOKA Band finished off the evening with a musical history show spanning from the Baroque era with "Music for the Royal Fireworks" all the way to the 20th century with "We Will Rock You." The program also included Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nacht Musik," "Arirang," a traditional Korean folk song and, a march by John Phillip Sousa, "Manhattan Beach."
